Skin Whitening Soap and Dry Skin: My Skin Care Trinity
February 19, 2018
In a country wherein a skin whitening soap is deemed necessary, how do we really know which product is right for us?
There are a lot of skin whitening products in the Philippines.
The most important information that you have to know before you try any type of skin product is your Skin Type. (Free Skin Type Test Here)
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder… righhhttt *inserts eye roll*
Beauty is skin deep… *maldita face on with skeptic stare*
Simplicity is beauty… *throws a loaded folder from the desk with a dexterous aim at your face*
Proverbs sound inspiring and they hold truth to them. As a modern Pinay surviving in this ever-punishing cosmopolitan world, you and I both know that there’s just too much pressure in the society to look good.
I am not a cynical person but I am very realistic.
Who doesn’t want to look good?
Who doesn’t want to be the best version of their self?
Maglolokohan naman tayo dito girls kung sasabihin niyo saken na hindi importante sa inyo na maging maganda.

Skin Whitening Soap
As a Transwoman and a Modern Pinay myself, mawala na ang lahat wag lang ang skincare routine ko.
I suffer from very dry and sensitive skin and the climate of our beloved Philippines doesn’t help. To add to my nightmare, I am admittedly a skin whitening soap patron. Products that whiten/bleach skin usually don’t play well with my skin type.
I started really early with skin whitening soaps and one of the products which is very dear to my heart is…
I’ve been using it since 4th grade so that was way back in 1990+ something and I don’t want to disclose my age, let’s keep it at that. I found out about it from my older sister who religiously used it and she has one of the most flawless legs I’ve ever seen. (I’m not saying this because she is my ate, wag kayong judgmental).
Something that’s special with Likas Papaya skin whitening soap is that it contains Papain/Papaya Proteinaise which is an enzyme from Papaya that breaks down some proteins in the skin. Papain, used in soap form helps dissolve dead skin cells on your skin’s surface which exfoliates and reveals healthier skin cells.
Papain contains latex which isn’t very safe for pregnant women.

Skin Whitening Soap + Dry Skin
Tip: You should always use a lotion/body butter when you’re using a skin whitening soap, skin whitening cream, or any product in the skin whitening category.
It is one thing to be fair but being fair & smooth are #goals. I will be talking more about moisturizing products on my upcoming posts. This article is only about my Skin Care Trinity, the three items that I need to live. (hashtag OA)
Right before we continue with my Skin Care Trinity, I just want to express that I am not a self-hating brown Filipina woman.
The reason why I’m using a skin whitening product is because of preference. My current weight is not my preference though, mag di-diet ako pag may TIME.
Filipina Skin is varied and I happen to have very dry and sensitive skin. I used to use only Cetaphil cleanser on my face and although it helps with me avoiding breakouts, I needed more.
To be honest, I was so scared of using Likas Papaya skin whitening soap on my face. My dermatologist told me that I should only use products for sensitive skin but I needed that extra whitening boost. I compromised by using very gentle products for my toner and moisturizer.
I am not sponsored by Celeteque (How I wish). It is a very reputable brand when it comes to products for dry and sensitive skin. Their products don’t give me discoloration, irritation, lagkit-****** feeling or super-tight & itchy feeling, and breakouts.
Their products don’t smell like anything which is something that I like. My dry and sensitive skin aren’t friends with fragrances.
Aside from the fact that their sensitive skin products are really of paramount quality, the price points match with the Modern Pinay as well.
It is very important to have a skin care routine which you can maintain without you having to skip meals or make utang to your friends just to look beautiful. (Ang panget pakinggan, #EstafaBeauty ang eksena, hindi nakakaganda.)
You can read more about the products by searching online so you can see for yourself and medyo tinatamad na rin ako.
I hope you girls enjoyed this read and don’t hesitate to write on the comment box your Skin Care Trinity as well.
