We all know how fun being under the sun can be but our skin begs to disagree (I’m rhyming, give me some credit). Every Modern Pinay needs to know the importance of sunblock and today, we’ll get into that on this Kojie San Sunblock SPF 69 PA+++ Review.
What does SPF mean?
SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor and it is usually followed by a number of “protection degree”.
These numbers are very apparent in different beauty products, they even appear on our favorite foundations.
There are two types of rays that reach the earth, the UVB and UVA.
UVB (Ultraviolet Burning) Radiation is what usually causes skin cancer. The reason why higher SPFs play an important role in fighting against UVB rays is SPF is mainly the amount of protection from UVB rays.
An SPF 15 product can block up to 93% of UVB Rays and an SPF 50+ product can block 97% UVB Rays.
You might be asking yourself now…
“Why should I get the SPF 50+ when it only has 4% more protection than the SPF 15+?”
The difference of the 2 numbers are not quite distant but the reason why SPF 50+ products are usually recommended is because consumers usually don’t apply enough sunblock.
Most people only apply 1/3 of a sunblock’s labeled value of protection, hence applying it liberally is encouraged.
UVA (Ultraviolet Aging) Radiation does not play a main key role in Skin Cancer but if ignored, can initiate skin cancer. It’s also the ray that accelerates skin aging thus having protection against both UVB and UVA rays is of paramount importance.

The main selling point of this product for me is it exceeds the recommended SPF 50+ for sunscreens. It also protects skin both from UVB and UVA rays.
To be honest, I was quite hesitant at first because I didn’t like their Kojic Acid Whitening Soap. However, we cannot discredit Kojie San altogether just because of that one product.
This is not only packed with sun protection but it also comes with Sunactyl. Sunactyl promotes glutathione from the body (bonus skin whitening effect).
Added to those benefits are Vitamin E and Shea Butter which we all know are part of nature’s best gifts when it comes to moisturization.
Octocrylene, Zinc Oxide, Acetyl Tyrosine, Diethylamino, Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Glycerin, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Caprylyl Methicone, Cetyl Alcohol, Bark Extract, Fragrance, Cetyl Palmitate, Dimethicone/Methicone Colpolymer, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Pyridoxine HCI, Glyceryl Stearate, Yeast Extract, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Caprylyl Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Propylheptyl Caprylate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Mannitol, Peg-12 Dimethicone/PPG-20 Crosspolymer, Silicon Dioxide, Hydrogen Dimethicone, Arginine, EDTA, Khaya Senecalensis, Cyclodrextrin, Dextrin, Ceteareth-20, Histidine HCI, Disodium Succinate, Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, Pentaerythirityl Distearate, Hydrogenated Dimeer Dilinoleyl/Dimethylcarbonate Copolymer, Xanthan Gum, Aspartic Acid, Ceteareth-23, Pentylene Glycol, Pisum sativum (Pea) Extract, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizinate, Sodium Polyacrylate, Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl, Tetranethyl Butylphenol, Benzophenone-3, De-ionized Water, Ethylhexyl, Methoxycinnamate, Tocipheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Beta-Glucan, Dimethicone, Titanium Dioxide, C12-C15 Alkyl Benzoate, Water, Methylisothiazolinone
I think I just passed out from typing those ingredients. I’m really considering on just taking a photo of the ingredients from the package the next time I write a product review.
How to Use
Like most sunblocks, you need to apply the Kojie San Sunblock SPF 69 PA+++ 30 minutes before going under the sun.
Apply liberally to obtain the promised SPF 69 protection (tipirin niyo na lahat wag lang to).
Also keep in mind to re-apply this sunblock right after swimming or sweating to get optimal efficacy.
I really like the Kojie San Sunblock SPF 69 PA+++ because it’s relatively more affordable than other sunblocks in the Philippines.
The price can help you avoid riding the air cargo or under the bus. You don’t have to cut too much from your summer trip budget.
My skin also absorbs this product very easily and it doesn’t give a sticky feeling which gets an A+ for me.
I easily get sunburns and this product did a great job in protecting my skin from the punishing heat.
The thing I don’t like about it is the smell. It smells like any other sunblock in the market. I don’t know if that’s a bad thing for you but I want something groundbreaking lol.
Packaging is mediocre at best.
The 150g bottle can only last about 3-4 days if you’re going to wear a two-piece bikini. If you’re not bikini ready like I am, it can last you 7-10 days.
This Kojie San Sunblock SPF 69 PA+++ is only made for the BODY.
Look for other products specifically made for the face.

Try not to stay too long under the sun especially if you’re using products that peel the skin including Kojic-Acid soaps.
Sunblocks are great help in letting you enjoy the season but too much of something is not a good thing.
